What To Do If Your Child Has A Fever

Having a fever – when the body’s temperature rises above 37ºC – is not an illness in itself. It is however, a symptom of another condition, most commonly an infection.

WHY DOES TEMPERATURE GO UP?

A rising temperature indicates that the body is trying to kill a virus or bacteria. If your child has a temperature, check for other signs of illness, including a sore throat or diarrhoea. If they have these signs, or feel unwell and you are worried, take them to a doctor whether they have a fever or not.

It’s a good idea to have a thermometer in your house. Digital thermometers are easy to read and can be used on all age groups. Talk to your Life Pharmacist about the best thermometer for your family.
