Fighting Foot Odour

While many people experience smelly feet every now and again after exercising or walking long distances, some have an ongoing issue.

SO WHAT MAKES FEET SMELL?

Foot odour is caused by too much sweat being produced by the foot’s sweat glands. In most cases, smelly feet are easy to treat with an anti-bacterial soap or a mild, antiseptic solution, used every day for about a week. To help reduce the amount of bacteria, make sure you dry your feet well before putting on socks or shoes.

WHEN TO TALK TO YOUR PHARMACIST

If the above treatments don’t work, or you notice your feet itch or the skin around your toes is red, you could have a fungal infection like athlete’s foot. Speak to your Pharmacist – they can offer advice on foot odour and an antifungal treatment if appropriate.
