Fever: Why Does The Body's Temperature Go Up?

Article banner

You’ve got a fever when your inner, or core, body temperature goes above the normal 37ºC.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO HAVE A FEVER?

Temperature can rise when your body is fighting a viral or bacterial infection. A fever by itself does not mean you are seriously sick – the important thing is to check for other signs of illness.

You do not need to take medication for mild fever, but paracetamol can be used if you’ve also got a headache or other pain. If you’d like advice about fever and pain medication, speak with your local Life Pharmacist.
