Vomiting is the body's way of getting rid of stomach contents that are harmful or irritating, by forcibly emptying them from the mouth.

Nausea is a queasiness in your stomach that often comes with the urge to vomit (throw up). Nausea is sometimes, but not always, followed by vomiting.

Common causes of vomiting in adults include gastroenteritis (tummy bug), early pregnancy, motion sickness, certain drugs and medications, intense pain, emotional stress, various viruses and certain smells or odours. In some cases, nausea and vomiting can be a warning sign of a more serious problem, so if you are concerned, see your Pharmacist or doctor.

There are medications that can be used to control nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy, migraine, motion sickness, and vertigo. Speak with your local Life Pharmacist who can offer advice on a medication that could be right for you.
